Caravan Site Fire Safety

22nd July 2025

We would like to remind everyone of the key safety measures that help protect families living on caravan sites.
To help prevent the spread of fire and keep people safe:

  • There must be at least 6 metres between each mobile home (measured wall to wall). This rule is primarily for fire safety and also helps to maintain privacy. Any add-ons like porches, sheds, or decking must stay out of the 6-metre safety gap between mobile homes. In some cases, small structures may be allowed, but only if they are made from fire-resistant materials and are built no more than 1 metre away from the home.
  • A minimum of 3 metres must be kept between any mobile home and the site boundary. This distance is measured from the outer wall of the mobile home, not including any detachable outbuildings (such as sheds or verandas).
  • Do not store items like gas bottles, furniture, or sheds in these clear safety spaces.
  • Keep access roads and paths clear for fire engines and emergency services.
  • These safety measures are based on national guidelines and exist to protect lives, homes, and the well-being of everyone in the community.

Let’s look after one another by following these simple but important rules.
