About Us

Advice and Advocacy

Kushti Bok Dorset works in close partnership with Dorset Police, Dorset Council, and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council to foster greater understanding of the Gypsy and Traveller way of life. Through education, advocacy, and engagement, we aim to bridge the gap between these communities and local authorities, ensuring fair treatment, inclusivity, and respect for cultural heritage.

Our work includes:

  • Cultural Awareness Training – Providing workshops and training sessions for public sector professionals to improve their understanding of Gypsy and Traveller traditions, values, and the challenges these communities face.
  • Advocacy & Mediation – Acting as an independent voice for Gypsies and Travellers in discussions with local authorities, helping to navigate legal, planning, and welfare issues while promoting constructive dialogue.
  • Community Support – Offering guidance on housing, education, healthcare, and legal rights, ensuring that Gypsy and Traveller families can access essential services without discrimination.
  • Policy Consultation – Advising local councils and law enforcement on policies and procedures that impact Gypsy and Traveller communities, striving for solutions that are fair, legal, and culturally sensitive.
  • Challenging Discrimination – Working to combat stereotypes, discrimination, and social exclusion by promoting positive representation and community cohesion.

By collaborating with key stakeholders, Kushti Bok Dorset helps create a more inclusive and understanding society where Gypsy and Traveller voices are heard and their rights are protected.
